Making instructions.

My work at the National Museum of Norway includes facilitating workshops for the visitors, along with a bunch of competent and talented colleagues. Some of these workshops may introduce a technique or a material to the public that is not commonly used. So we decided to make some easy step-by-step guides to get people started. I usually draw these with pen and arrange them digitally afterwards. Here is some of my workshop instructions (in norwegian):

I drew this for an embroidery-workshop in conjunction with an exhibition of artist Britta Marakatt-Labba.

My pedagogical hope for this workshop was that people would know how long the thread should be, tying a knot in the end of it, and thread a needle.

This instruction showed people how to make a ring with birch bark. The workshop was made by artist Åsne Kummeneie and was related to crafts made by the Kvens.

With danish cord, skewers and a round plate with premade holes the visitors could make a small basket. This was in conjunction with the exhibit New Nordic. Cuisine, Aesthetics and Place. So was the following guide where it shows how to make a napkin-ring with seaweed ropes.
